HAHAHA!!! Thanks for making me laugh...I remember my last convo too (I officially left about a month after the convention)- I didn't have a phone with internet at the time (lucky you) but I was texting my friends the whole time talking about how lame it was- I felt so sneaky, my family thought I was texting other JW friends at the convention sitting across the stadium. I volunteered to watch the contribution box, clean, anything to keep from having to talk to JWs or hear the convention-

when rutherford assumed the presidency of the watchtower society he instituted series of sweeping changes to the teachings and practices of the bible students.
some of these changes were at complete odds with what had been taught previously.
a key example was the elevation of the watchtower society as "god's visible organization on earth".
Yes, last week I was approached by a sister doing street witnessing...she handed me one of their new "branded" tracts, and pointed me right to the back and told me I could go on JW.org to learn more- of course she grabbed it out of my hand when I told her I was an apostate but....
Man remember the old days of memorizing "what to say about the magazines" on the back of the kingdom ministry...we had to read a scripture...or even worse...I remember the days of memorizing mini sermons in the reasoning book-
its sooo easy now for JWs....rebranding is a genious cult move and I do think you guys are on the right track that JW will become the next "KFC"

i am attempting to get a list of ages people learnt the "truth" and what age they left.. .

i got this second hand from my wife, who got it from her mom.. .
apparently, there will be two points of entry to the convention.
My mom (going to the Detroit International convo this comming week) informs me also that she had to go buy a new lunch bag because it had to be a specific size, she has to carry her bible,songbook, and note book in without a bookbag, and that she has to change to a small purse for screening.

she told me they were announcing that people were not booking their hotels fast enough, and "we don't want to make the jw's look bad!
she told me about a promotional video they all watched, full of propaganda about the ford field house and all the arrangements that had been made for transportation and parking, and the city of detroit.
Ah Finkelstein....stopping people (like us and other youtubers) from taping the sessions....I think you are on the right track there!

My mom is going to that convention....people I work with are getting their invitations now (they were complaining to me about it..like there's anything I can do about it lol)
My mom told me yesterday that they are patting everyone down before they go into the convention building, and that she is only allowed to take in a small lunch bag with specific dimentions (something like 12 inches by 4 inches), their bible-songbook-notebook (not in a bookbag), and sisters can only take a SMALL purse with them-
WTF!!! Is this a new thing...or is it just because it is an international convention???
This is only the 4th convention I have missed, things sure do change!

Yes they were jerks...they should have reconsidered their plans if it was thought that it would result in negative PR for the group- with social media (like the fb campaign to save Jim's view, and the local news piece) fanning the flames of bad press for the JWs- they should just tear down the foundation and alter their plans....
With meetings NEVER being at 100% capacity (with memorial being a possible exception)...three less parking spaces will not be a hardship for anyone, and saving the poor trapped JWs who have to preach in that neighborhood would be well worth the effort and inconvenience...
but we all know that the jerks in watchtower management will not see it that way...they will stick to their guns and "rejoice" that they are being persecuted for their uncompromising stubbornnesss....how sad
